This print designed by Dietrich Varez captures the nostalgia of the old days when sampans moored in Kewalo Basin and fish was processed in factories along the docks. These Japanese-named vessels, often bearing the name "Maru", a tradition dating back to a 16th century Daimyo, brought in fresh ahi and aku that sustained island communities.
